Youth marijuana use is associated with worse academic performance. Just look at new data from Columbia University researchers showing that adolescents who used marijuana near-daily (on 10 or more occasions in the past 30 days) were almost four times as likely to have poor grades compared to non-users. If the marijuana industry gets a massive economic power-up—including on ad spending—via President Donald Trump’s move to downgrade the drug’s federal classification, America’s youth are going to face ubiquitous new campaigns to get them hooked. We need to act now to educate lawmakers about the impact of marijuana on our kids.
