Trumpworld weed advocate Alex Bruesewitz wasn’t telling the truth when he told SAM CEO Kevin Sabet on X that he has “no personal stake” in the debate over federally rescheduling weed:
Turns out the company Bruesewitz runs was paid some $300,000 by the American Rights and Reform PAC. That’s an industry funded supergroup handing out big bucks to move the needle on rescheduling and other issues in favor of addiction profiteers.

Bruesewitz’s firm took the money on June 26 and tweeted his “no personal stake” line July 11; $300,000 is enough to buy a starter home.
We’re pretty sure that counts as a “personal stake.”
The FEC release by the pro-marijuana rescheduling PAC was initially discovered by Marijuana Moment.
That’s a big irony considering what a bad light it casts a very prominent advocate of industry causes in.
And the data doesn’t stop with Bruesewitz.
The list of groups pouring money into American Rights and Reform reads likes a rogues’ gallery of Big Weed’s most aggressive addiction sellers:
- Verano Holdings gave $1,037,500
- Green Thumb Industries gave $1,000,000
- Cresco Labs gave $750,000
- Last but not least, Trulieve handed over $250,000
It’s an ugly, albeit familiar, complex.
Big Weed pays into this PAC; the PAC pays influencers like Bruesewitz and other voices big bucks.
Those influencers act like they’re in it for the sake of some lofty principle.

The key point:
We can probably assume @DC_Draino is paid for his recent tweets regarding marijuana rescheduling.
At least given his documented history of pay-to-tweet with Trulieve last year during the Florida marijuana legalization campaign.
This is what the people fighting for evidence-based public health policies around weed are up against.
A coordinated disinformation campaign with extremely rich backers.
An information war in which the losers are American families and communities.
Luckily, anyone who pushes back against the addiction industry and fights to highlight the massive mental and physical harm weed does has the most powerful weapon on their side.
The truth.
