Friday Fact: Teens who use weed face a more than twofold risk of psychotic disorders later in life

The drumbeat of data linking weed to severe mental illness just got louder: A major new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association from researchers at UCSF, UCLA, and other top institutions shows that teens who use marijuana face a more than double risk of psychotic disorders later in life. They also face increased risks across the spectrum of mental illness including bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety. The more America knows about the real harms of this drug and just how much damage the marijuana industry does, the stronger the backlash to legalization, commercialization, and normalization will grow.
