A new report from the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, citing the International Cannabis Policy Study, found that 19% of 21–25-year-olds in the state in 2023 were daily or near-daily users of marijuana—the highest proportion of any age group. Even more worryingly, 11% of 16–20-year-olds were daily or near-daily users. This outcome illustrates how the use and misuse of marijuana accelerate once the drug is legalized, commercialized, and normalized in a state. It should also serve as a warning sign to other states considering following in Massachusetts’ footsteps that Big Weed continues to target the young.  Â
